Thorough report issued by the International Energy Agency (IEA) detailing trends in EV battery growth. Among the findings: 🔋 Demand for EV batteries reached more than 750 GWh in 2023, up 40% relative to 2022 🔋 The United States and Europe experienced the fastest growth among major EV markets, reaching more than 40% year-on-year, closely followed by China at about 35%. 🔋 Battery demand for lithium stood at around 140 kt in 2023, 85% of total lithium demand and up more than 30% compared to 2022; for cobalt, demand for batteries was up 15% at 150 kt, 70% of the total.  🔋 Production in Europe and the United States reached 110 GWh and 70 GWh of EV batteries in 2023, and 2.5 million and 1.2 million EVs, respectively. From the The Korea Economic Daily: "The global market of #siliconanode, a lithium-ion battery component garnering attention due to its higher energy capacity and faster charging than graphite-based anodes, will expand tenfold by 2035"...according to a report from from SNE Research, a Seoul-based #cleanenergy and #battery market research firm. Per the report: 📈 The silicon anode share in the entire anode market is forecast to grow from 1% in 2023 to 7% by 2030 and 10% by 2035 📈 The global silicon anode market is predicted to expand from $600 million in 2023 to $4.3 billion by 2025 and $6.6 billion by 2035 https://lnkd.in/gSY4zkqG
